2 Marzo - Week 29

2 March 2015

Hey all,

So I didn`t remember the week, so I wrote the date... I feel like this has reached a new level of lost in time...  So this week went really well.  We taught a lot of people and had a lot of help from the Lord with our work!  I really enjoyed this week and enjoyed teaching everyone!

This upcoming week we are hoping to have a baptism, but we have to finish teaching her, resolve a few confusions she has, and make sure that she`s ready.  The ward has already accepted her as one of their own, which is awesome!  We also had a baptism in our ward this past week!  It wasn`t ours, it was the wards baptism, but it was someone who we`ve been helping for months and he`s finally baptized!  We are very proud of him!  He worked really hard!  His family was all so happy!!

The missionaries in the other ward are currently teaching a man named Steve who is NOT Latino.  He`s Las Angeles through and through and he`s so much fun. He`s one of the few people that we can speak English to and not be breaking rules of the mission.  He finds the rule of only speaking Spanish so funny because when we talk to him we talk in English, but when we talk to each other (all of us are from the US) we speak Spanish.

So this week I`ve had my testimony of Family History strengthened so much.  This past week we shared Family History with the family the recently reactivated and now the daughter is obsessed!  She loves it and I can see her getting closer to her ancestors.  It makes me want to work harder on it!  I love it!

I hope this next week for you all is great!  I love you guys!

Week 29?‏ (Nope Week 28)

23 Feb 2015

Dear Everyone,

So this week we’ve been kept very busy!  We’ve worked a lot with helping the members who have either recently joined the church, or haven’t been coming a lot recently.  I love working with them, they’re all so nice, and normally they know exactly what we’re trying to help them with, so it makes life a lot easier.

I also got to participate in a quartet for a conference with a third of the mission and it was a lot of fun, and really awesome!!  We sang Llevaremos Su verdad al mundo (We’ll Bring the World His Truth).  It was amazing, and the mission president’s wife had tears in her eyes in the end.  We’ll be singing together a lot more now!

So I also gave a 15 minute talk in sacrament yesterday talking about the Work of Salvation and the importance of helping our brothers and sisters find the gospel once we’ve been converted (like Christ told Peter to do).  It went really well, and I found an example of this that works perfectly.  So I know that my parents always love when one sibling helps another without being asked to and they feel so happy when it happens.  It is exactly the same with our Heavenly Father, he is absolutely overjoyed when we help our brothers and sisters find the gospel and understand it.  We need to help them and he will bless us.  This is one thing I’ve learned a lot on my mission.

I hope you all have an amazing week in the cold.
Con amor y calor,
Elder Forsgren

6 Months, what?¡!¿‏

16 Feb 2015

Hey all,

So this week I hit 6 months which was soo weird because that means I`m over a fourth of the way through my mission, but I feel like I`ve been here so little time!!  It`s so strange!

So this morning my zone and I all climbed one of the hills in our zone which took so long, and it`s so hot, but it was a lot of fun to be with the people of my zone!  We also ate lunch at the top, which was also a lot of fun!  But now my companion and I have like 2 hours to prepare for the week, and so I`m still a bit stressed...  But we`ll see how it goes!

This week was also el Día de Amor (Valentines day) and so someone gave us fish key chains.  That was cool!  It`s actually a family that was less active, but this week they reactivated in church!  I`m so happy to see them there because I`ve also been visiting them ever since coming to the mission and now they`re active and all happy!!  It`s amazing to see them all and the improvement they`ve made in their lives and they`re just completely wonderful!!

So right now the work is slightly more slow because everyone is on vacations (because we`re in the middle of summer) I`m currently pink, my companion is Coka Cola red and that’s because there aren`t as many people where we actually enter their houses, just a lot of walking trying to find people...  But it`s all good, because the people we`re visiting are amazing and I love the work!!

I hope you all have a really good week, keep cool! I love you guys!

Week something or other‏ - Week 26

9 Feb 2015

Dear everyone,
So today I`m actually sick... that`s fun... But I`m not as bad as this morning so here I am!  I can write now!  I actually got to take a 2 hour nap after exercises, which was nice, because I was not feeling good!  Now we`re doing much better (especially because my companion cleaned the house)

So one of the awesome things that happened this week was I had an interchange with the best singer in our mission who is now one of my best friends!  We`re actually gong to be singing a quartet in the next Zone Conference and he asked me to join!  I`m excited (and scared because the other 3 are just absolutely amazing!!!)  We have the most musical district in our mission right now.  We have 3 of the 4 singers who sang for Elder Russell M. Nelson when he came to our mission all within my ward building!!  District class is always fun during the opening hymn! I`m also still playing piano for the ward and everyone keeps complimenting me even though I`m only playing 5 songs of the 8-9 I know!  They love having a pianist.  I might switch to Organ just for fun this upcoming semana.

So we`re loving life, and teaching a lot of people.  We are working a lot with recent converts and less active people.  This past Sunday we had 50 people in church, 12 were less active, and 3-4 were recent converts!  and 2 were people investigating the church!!  It was very great!!  One of the less actives even gave a talk!!  It was one of the most spiritual ones I`ve heard since being here!  It was honestly so amazing!!

Well I love you all and hope all is going well for you guys!!  Good luck this week!

Week 25

2 Feb 2015

Dear everyone!

So I´m sitting in a tiny chair, I´m sweating like a pig, and I´m so happy!!  So this week was long and hard with not much to be done, but we still managed to teach a lot of people!!  The problem is everyone is on vacations right now...  That makes life a little harder because everyone we need to visit is at the beach or in the south (12 hours away...) but we found a bunch of people we had lost and had a lot of time just hanging out with some new people!!

So I´m still playing piano at church, but I´m currently playing the same 3 songs every week because the people don´t know some of them and things like that.  But it´s nice to be able to play it!!

I also made a video to send home but it doesn´t fit, so I don´t know what to do... Oh well!  I´ll see what I can do next week!

So yesterday I gave a class in the Principles of the Gospel class and we had about 15 people, our biggest turnout!!  It was awesome!!! It was on The Life of Christ and it was a really good class.  It´s always hard to teach big groups of people in Spanish for me because I´m still learning, but the Spirit guided me a lot during it.  I know that it was there teaching each of us and we had people volunteer to share their testimony at the end just adding to the sacred message.  I loved every moment of it.  I hope you all have a good week!  I love you all!!  In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Con amor,

Elder Forsgren
